  • Connie: You were TOTALLY in your element after the first couple of interviews. You're pretty much a natural at it!

Keith: DId you ever ask any questions in the interviews? I don't remember.

Thanks! I'm surprised the number of media wasn't greater, to be honest.
  • Actually, there were more than I expected. The Kings apparently went all out in offering credentials to the so-called "non-traditional" media. They also apparently hired Eric Stephens, who used to work for the LA TImes covering the Ducks, to write for their web site. I wonder if they'll continue that during the season.

All the regulars showed up at one time or another during the weekend, except for Rich Hammond.
  • Good job guys (and lady),

Two quick things. First, was it my imagination or did Connie just ask if Purcell is fat and if thats going to effect his speed? Secondly, did I hear that Chris Pronger taught Drew Doughty a few things? If Dought start stomping on people's legs and elbowing anyone he can reach, we'll know where he learned his new found craft!
  • I didn't call Purcell fat, per se; just asked if his weight gain to get stronger might slow his foot speed on the ice.
  • Yes, basically Connie called Purcell asked if the 30 pounds he gained will effect his skating. It was rather amusing.
  • You heard correctly my friend. Connie did ask that (not in those words) and got a good chuckle from Helene Elliot herself. Also true about Drew, his new best friend is Chris Pronger, we'll see what new techniques he tries out. In addition, Connie did ask Drew more questions about his complete nutritional intake, his favorite waffle topping and Seinfeld character that is most like him but there simply wasn't room.
  • Keith, Chris and Connie...did you all meet all the media folks you wanted to meet (other than Helene Elliott)? If not, my apologies...
  • Thanks so much, Gann. You were really awesome in introducing us. Much appreciated!
  • It was my pleasure! One of my goals for HockeyFest, aside from getting all those interviews (THREE hours of audio!! AAUUGGHH!!!) was to make sure the three of you got to meet all the folks who cover the team regularly, especially since you sorta met most of them on Facebook anyway. Figured that was the least I could do.
  • Yes actually. Thanks for the introductions. Great experience just being there in that environment, looking forward to more experiences like that. Yeah, Helene looked pretty much in her zone and didn't want to disrupt that. My only question was who was the crew that was shooting the video and asking the "different" questions?
  • Never saw those guys before.
  • It was a fantastic event actually! The highlights to me where the Triple Crown Line and the Bob Miller 1 on 1. My one regret was not chatting with LA Times reporter Helene Elliot in the media room, but she seemed pretty busy.
  • I wanted to introduce you, Keith and Connie to Helene, but she was all business this past weekend and I know not to interrupt her when she's in that mode.

i was interviewed by Helene Elliot of the LA times about the event. Good questions were asked from Helene. She also gave me an email of the times sports editor. I complained about the lack of coverage the NHL gets in the LA Times. She told me to email blast him daily until the coverage increases..it is mike.james@latimes.com.

hockeyfest was a lot of fun!! I do wish we had more interaction with Alumni who attended the first day of festivities. Great episode guys! One month to and really like Kopi and Brownie's commitment and enthusiasm they are bringing this year. Kopi's almost guarantee was funny. No Messier type commitment, but i will accept it.
  • The almost guarantee was, indeed, funny. Kopitar didn't look as "pudgy" as he has previously. He hasn't exactly bulked up (from what I can tell) but I think he's been working hard this offseason.
  • What an amazing day of Kings hockey. The Kings expect to make the playoffs this year. There is excitement in the air.
