Episode 40 – Duck Soup
5 Feb, 2010 | by Keith
The LA Kings are on fire. In this episode we talk about the Kings 8-game win streak, give our thoughts on the game against the Anaheim Ducks, interview a guy who didn’t have an NHL team to cheer for and discuss the Devils trade for Ilya Kovalchuk. Question of the Day: Who should the Los Angeles Kings trade for at the deadline?

Like you, I'm glad we didn't break up our squad for a rental. So in answer to your question… NO ONE. I don't think we're a cup-contending team this season, so a big trade is moot. This Summer, I'd say we should bring up Schenn and maybe Loktionov and try to land a decent power forward for some future picks or players like Frolov, Purcell, Jones, etc. Otherwise, I like how the Kings are meshing and winning and battling night after night.
And like I said before, an LA Kings win is satisfying, but not quite as satisfying as beating the Analcrime Ducks and making their lame fans shut the hell up. GO KINGS!!!!
I am of the opinion that we should go out and grab someone. We have something like 6 picks in the first three rounds. I agree that we're not contending for a Cup but what if we win a round? That'd be great for this young team. A guy like Whitney or Kariya would look good on the squad for a few months, no?
Nobody's going to want Jones at the deadline and I doubt we trade Frolov considering how well we're playing. It'll be interesting for sure. The Olympic break is coming up!
It got really uncomfortable last night in the third but the boys figured out a way to get it done.
The Kings have become, “Team Clutch.”
Yeah, I guess we spoke too soon when we released “Unclutch” earlier in the season
As awesome as this streak as been, it's so annoying that Phoenix keeps winning too! Another win, albeit in a shootout tonight, but still a win. I think that's 6 in a row for them.
We gotta get someone. No one huge is necessary IMO but another forward and d-man would work. Sean O'Donnell is going to need some breaks soon if they keep playing like this…
It feels like the Twilight Zone or something. The last few years the 3rd period has been the Kings enemy, now they simply rise to the occasion.
Rise to the occasion? Chris, maybe that's because the Kings have Cialis as a new sponsor.

Well, since the Kings just beat the Detroit Dead Things and Phoenix is losing 2-0 to the Stars….I like what's going on.
Pierre Le Brun said, on Hotstove tonight, that Ray Whitney was traded to the Kings last weekend, but the deal is in limbo because Whitney wanted three years. Anyone else hear this? Who did we give up?
i heard the same deal..whitney ewants a 3 year extension, but Deano is not willing to give such an offer. We offrered Voynov plus a draft pick i heard..no final decision has been made yet.
Hahahahah great episode!!
I think that Souray would be a good name to strengthen the defensive system, I do not trust Jones nor in Harrold. Kariya also be a good addition too.
Lombardi has stated its wish to use some round draft picks to engage in any exchange. We'll see.

Great show as usual fellas. I feel for John having to wear the Ducks jersey
As for trading, what about Ray Whitney? He would be nice little addition as a top 6 and on the PP. Probably wouldn't have to give up a ton for him.
Not sure Souray would be a great pick up. He has been injury prone all season. What about another goalie? Quick has been great so far, but he has played a ton. Will he burn out?
I'd love Whitney but, apparently, he wanted a 3-year extension to waive his NTC. That's a bit much for a 37 year old I think.
Carolina wanted either Teubert or Voynov and a 2nd round pick. That too is too much I think. I wouldn't mind seeing Minnesota's Eric Belanger at the deadline. He'd be great on the 4th line and is a solid guy in the faceoffs.
