I love it! You guys finally see why I think Ovechkin deserves to be treated like the turd he is. He's full of himself and plays dirty. Now I won't feel so bad wearing that T-shirt around you guys because “Ovechkin is Russian for Douche Bag.” So the next time that a-hole tries to take out a guy's knee cap and then FAKE that he's hurt, you'll know my kind of hatred. I know, I know – he's the only white Russian you can't stomach.

Great Show! Hmmmm….Favorite player in the leauge…..Lappy still Lappy after all these years!

  6. K9Jeeper says:

Favorite old school player would have to be Bobby Orr. Favorite current player is Jon Quick.

  7. You know, I really loved watching Alex Ovechkin because he is a dynamic goal scorer. But, after our interaction with the guy, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. They guy was a prick. There's no other way to say it. Now, Sydney Crosby is a bit of a whiner as well so who really is an ambassador to the National Hockey League? I'm not quite sure at this point.

  8. K9Jeeper says:

“after our interaction with the guy, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.” Then you should spit it out or make him change his diet. (Sorry, you left yourself wiiiiide open on that one, Keef)

  9. One of my favorite all time players is Peter Forsberg but currently playing in the NHL, I'd have to say Anze Kopitar.

  10. chrisnadeau says:

Keith I loved the Semin slap replay. Can you do that again? LOL

Brian Wilsie for Hart! To bad to Ovi was not in a good mood. I gotta go with Sid the Kid as my fav player right now. He may whine, but he has a Stanley Cup, he battles and he is a winner. And he played minor hockey where I grew up playing.

  11. You know what, Chris, I hear ya on Sid. He's so well-liked and has such a good demeanor off the ice that I just want to hate him. I've also heard from fans that, while he doesn't always sign, he is very gracious.

You know, if Ovie wasn't yucking it up with the Puck Bunnies, I wouldn't have minded that much. That said, we were IN Staples Center IN a public place and he was a douche. It's not like we cornered him at a restaurant. Not to mention, we weren't even interested in autographs. There were a few fans around that remarked “he's always like that. He's a prick through and through”.

  12. Jay says:

Um, how would you like someone stalking you with a video camera when you were in a public area trying to talk to people? You want cooperation while filming video, get media credentials. Otherwise leave the guy alone? People with no manners are the ones who are douches, something you display rather brilliantly.

  13. Name says:

So you expected Ovechkin to allow you to tape him in a no media area, then call him a douche? Classy.

  14. chrisnadeau says:

Ya, who knows what was going through the guys mind at that point. As a fan watching him, he does some things on the ice that I find selfish, which will need to change if he ever wants to win a cup in Washington. IMO.

To bad that situation left a bad taste in your mouth.

  15. I like the spin here. If Ovechkin where anywhere outside of Staples Center, we would have never tried to get footage. But this was after the game and he was chatting it up with some puck bunnies. Double standard. Interestingly enough, a few fans remarked after that little incident went down that “Ovechkin is always like that. He's always been a complete ass.” Good to know for next time.

  16. Ovechkin is one hell of a player and one hell of an entertaining guy, especially for the media. Check out some of his in depth coverage @washingtonpost. Getting shut down, as Kings Fan Vid Bloggers shouldn't really surprise you.

  17. Not sure if “stalking” is the right word here. We literally just tried to get a wide shot of Ovie standing there inside of a Staples Center hallway. This is the same spot where every other teams players come up from the locker room and chat with fans. It's a public area; this wasn't in the locker room or a restaurant or at the mall, there was no camera in his face and we didn't yell or egg him on. Ovechkin is at Staples Center once a year so I thought he should have been more engaging with the fans than he was and not spending so much time and energy trying to tell people what NOT to do.
But, he was probably exhausted after getting shutdown by the Kings and Dustin Brown knocking him down (legally) all game! I get it…

  18. Let us tape him for 10 seconds standing there, yes I did expect that. He's in town once a year so I would think he could muster up some energy and ham it up for a shot or two. It not like we're Ebay junkies trying to get him to sign 20 things. Were you there?

  19. He is a hell of a player in my opinion, one of the best in the world. That hasn't changed, he wants to win and he's fun to watch! That being said, for a town/league/country really trying to endear itself to fans both new and old, I would expect one of it's big stars to be a little more… accommodating. But, you're right, this isn't Washington and these are rich, high profile athletes here. I do live in celebrity central here in LA and I'll say the nice/rude ratio is about 50/50.

  20. Zach says:

You guys are the Douches here. Seriously, never ever video blog again. How old are you boys, 15? 16?

  21. thomasvokoun says:

Sick show guys!! There is a special award that you should honor Ovi with next episode … the DOY (Douche of the Year) Award!! Don't worry … when he comes back down to South Florida my boi Keith Ballard will lay a hurtin on him just like he did to Malkin. Who knows, maybe i'll take a swing at Ovi! The only thing i'm afraid of is his bitch slap!

Have fun Caps fans backing up your party boy douchebag! He doesn't have your back! Call me up when he wins a playoff series against Crosby!

  22. K9Jeeper says:

I love it that these half-wits are defending Ovechkin. They guy is a socially-inept turd stain. Okay, so the guy has talent on the ice… He's really good at taking out other player's kneecaps and then pretending he got hurt in the process. He's done it twice (so far) and what did the league do to him? He might be uber talented, but he's also a bit dirty, really smug and 100% asshole in public to more than a few people on more than one occasion, so when you get over that man-crush on Alex, maybe you'll see what we're saying. And for the record, Keith and Chris are two of the nicest most genuine people you'll ever meet. So go to an ATM get some cash and go buy that clue you didn't get for the holidays, m'kay?

DOY…LOL That's funny stuff right there!

  25. Thanks for watching Zach!

  26. K9Jeeper says:

Another nugget o' brilliance from another idiot in a sea of morons. The fellas are older than that and hey, here's an idea… if you don't like what they do, go back to your kiddie porn and petting zoo sites. FFS!

  27. K9Jeeper says:

Hey Chris, have you seen that picture of Peter in heels? Forsberg was REALLY great at one thing (and one reason that the rules changed) he was quite proficient in diving. That guy drew more penalties from diving and making it look like he was tripped. I'll never forget his player profile on divealanche.com – it was hilarious.

  28. K9Jeeper says:

Luc was (and still is) a great example of a hockey ambassador.

  29. I still find it hilarious so many Ovechkin fans call CROSBY a bitch…lmao…funny thing is, in the car on the way to the game Saturday, my Grandpa and I were talking about players with class and players who lack it, and Ovechkin was at the top of our list of those who lack it. His actions in the game and this video further prove it…

    Favorite All Time Player: LUUUUUUUUC
    Favorite Current King: Matt Greene
Favorite Current Non-King: Sidney Crosby + Eric Staal

  30. I find it funny how these caps fans are acting douche-y just like Ovechkin here.

  31. K9Jeeper says:

    You tell 'em, Ashley

  32. Name says:

So because he's a star, he should forgo media standards just so your blog can get a few extra hits? Don't deny it – that's exactly what you're doing for here with this video, regardless whether Ovechkin complied or not.

He's a human being like anyone else, and if you actually respected the guy as you claim to have prior to this incident, then you would have asked for his permission in the first place. You didn't, and then act like YOU were the one disrespected. If anything it seems like you were digging for trouble. Again, classy.

  33. angellee says:

It's LA. Get ready to be filmed, photographed, and hassled. It's a choice whether to handle it with grace or be a douche. I live near Southbay where most of the Kings players live, and it's safe to say most of us don't bother the guys when they're just out eating and whatnot.

Luc is pure class. I remember seeing him in Starbucks a few days after the HOF announcement and he chatted up with fans offering their congrats, and was on his way when his coffee was done. Not that hard.

Favorite of all time: Luc. That one's obvious.
    Favorite current King: Matt Greene

  34. Megums says:

OK guys, let's be a little fair here. I understand the guy could have been more gracious in requesting you kindly turn off the camera. But let me ask you this….when the Pens were in town, did you stay after the game and try to get a camera in Sid's face? The Pens lost as well, so maybe in spite of all reports to the contrary Sid is capable of having his douchey moments too. You just didn't try to capture one. Or if you did, you didn't talk about it. For me, if you're going to judge douchebag ratings of hockey players based on their quality of behavior as a person walking around in every day life, give Marty Broudeur the lifetime douche award.

How about we talk about the fact that the Kings won, Drew put the freakin' hip check smackdown on Mike Green and practically went airborne defending Brooks Laich. Or that amazing Jon Quick double pad stack stop. Or that Brad Richardson has the heart of a lion right now and just won't quit. Let's be happy about our success and not use it to bring down other people.

And I don't think I even need to answer your question on my favorite hockey player, do I?

  35. Really? Because the last time we called out a player in this fashion was…wait..never.

And, please, permission? At Staples Center? After a game? I've said it before and I'll say it again: This was not in a restaurant, a mall, at a club, at his house, etc. If there are hoards of fans around a guy after a game in the arena he played in, it's fair game. I respect a right to privacy. Number 8 was being an idiot. Either that or a sore-loser who was shut down and pushed around all night.

Look, I get it, you're a Caps fan. That's cool. But if you had done the same thing in your arena to one of our players and got the same response from them, I'd jump on your band wagon in calling that player out.

  36. borutksvn says:

Great episode! it is a bit scary look by Ovechkin there, looking like naci…defeated… LOL
QOD: A. Kopitar for his impact on LA Kings and Slovenian national team over last years

  37. All right, Meg, let's bring it back to the hockey. Yes, that was a good game played by LA on Saturday. It appears that the third jerseys wing again. Drew Doughty continues to prove why he was chosen for the Olympics and Brad Richardson continues to show us that he was worth the second rounder we traded for him.

That said, Quick had to make some outstanding saves to keep us in it. I thought the defense did a decent job in the first and part of the third. While it is nice to have a goalie who's playing outstanding, it would be nice to have the defense crack down a bit more.

Oh yeah, when is Kopitar going to start scoring again?

  38. Stayclassydotnet says:

“How hard is it to be adored by fans”

Umm, guys, you should really know the answer to this. Given the fact that you are the classiest Kings site out there with millions of fans, I expect you to know this.

Great work guys. Love the videos!

  39. Gann Matsuda says:

As a member of the media, I can say for a fact that you have no idea what you're talking about here. Ovechkin was, in fact, not in a restricted area, nor was that area labeled as “no media.”

I would try getting the facts before spouting off as if you actually knew what you were talking about.

  40. collector joe says:

Nice show guys!! Okay, now it is my turn to respond to the reasons why I feel Ovechkin is an “ass”. My bad experiences with Ovie started at the NHL awards in Las Vegas. Everyone is complaining about how his privacy was invaded upon during his one and only visit to LA. This statement could have some merit if the area he was located was in a restricted area. Unfortunately for Ovie and the rest of the Caps who were in attendance, it was not. In fact, this area is completely open to the public both during and after each game and has been graced by many of the NHL’s current superstars…i.e. Crosby, who by the way never turns down a fan when approached for an autograph. He may limit the amount he signs and his autograph may be sloppy at times, but he will always try to accommodate each and every person who is waiting to see him before departing. As for Ovie, that is clearly not the case. Thus far, I have observed Ovie's refusal to sign everything. He even balks at picture taking (which is shown in the video). For example, when in Vegas and while he was supposed to be promoting the NHL, he did the complete opposite. He avoided the fans and gave nasty looks to everyone who approached him. The only time he was approachable was when he walked down the red carpet and had the camera pointed directly on him. I guess he has to maintain that perfect image everyone believes he has. Personally, I think Ovechkin is nothing but a showoff that has unbelievable hockey skill. He can dominate a game at any given time and is amazing to watch. The hot stick routine he performed last season after he scored his 50th goal is a perfect example of this. It is a shame that he is unable to put both of them together. At least Steve Yzerman or Joe Sakic never acted like that. Respect for the game and the fan was always displayed. As I was stating earlier, my displeasure with Ovechkin stems from Las Vegas. I was one on one with Ovie and I simply asked for a picture and was turned down. This frustration grew even bigger after the Caps recent visit to LA. Each time the fans, myself included, approached Ovie for an autograph; it was met with a shrug or the famous cell phone to the ear (the lips were not moving). I also observed him taking an individual’s pen and brushing it to the side. All of this occurred in a public hockey arena and at a public practice facility where other teams and their superstars are seen signing multiple autographs and taking pictures with their fans. Lastly, I want to conclude with a statement that Jeremy Roenick said during his retirement news conference earlier this year. “Don’t ever forget the fan, no matter how busy you are or if you are in a hurry…always make time to speak to them or to sign their autograph requests”. Every player, including Oveckin, should follow Roenick’s lead. No player is bigger than the sport no matter how good you are.

  41. K9Jeeper says:

    Well said, Joe.

  42. K9Jeeper says:

You know who I am SICK OF?????? Sean O'Toolbag. He blew the Red Wing game. How many stick to stick passes to the Red Wings, OD? And what about the game loser you gave them against Helm? He's tired. He's flat-footed. GET RID OF THAT DEAD WEIGHT ALREADY! And why in the HELL did Coach Murray play OD in the last minute of a crucial game? FFS! I am so done with that guy.
