Episode 26 – The Good and the Bad

Yesterday I watched the game against the Flyers and I really enjoyed the team, was a game of great strength of both teams, unfortunately went out defeated.

Great job Fernando! That was an awesome video. Drew Doughty is the shiz! I even had Flyers fans telling me after the game last night that he stood out as a stud.

He really played very well, it's amazing how a player nineteen shows such technique.

Okay I'll change the subject: Does anyone else agree that the commercials they play during King games are the LAMEST (especially the Coke Zero and EA Hockey Night with those annoying femme Cap fans) and they keep playing the same ones over and over and sometimes twice in the same commercial break! UGH!!!! Thank the electronic gods for creating the DVR!!!!! My pause button is GOLDEN.

And another thing, Bob Miller has become a parrot. He repeats himself far too often. I mean just tonight he has mentioned FOUR times that Randy Jones used to play for the Flyers - in two periods. Anyone wish to venture a guess how many times in the third period?

How can you forget the Aladdin Bail Bonds commercial? It plays once a period. Clearly they have done some market research on the Kings; are there really THAT many Kings fans that need help on bail? That one is ridiculous and sad at the same time.

How can the two of you not like the EA Hockey Night game commercial? That is comedy gold!

Because like Phil Collins, the more it's played - the more it's hated. I liked that spot the very first time. But after being subjected to it over and over and over it gets on my nerves. "Ovechkin!" And "I want to bake you into a lemon bar and eat you." OMG I want to barf up my Pad Se Ew and send it to those overly-chatty Midwestern females.

And yeah, are the Aladdin Bail Bonds people saying that hockey fans are felons? You know, football has very funny beer commercials, why can't hockey have some funny commercials that don't have repetitive elements or ones that don't get old quickly?

Even on the radio, the Staples spot that has the guy saying that ANY ink or toner will get you $3 and the idiot sits there and asks, "How about HP? How about Lexmark? How about Cannon?" How about get a new ad campaign? There is NOTHING more annoying in advertising than repeating something over and over as if we're too stupid to retain their message. FFS! You know what? Comedy and sex sells... period. Now if only we could have naked funny women selling beer to hockey fans...there's your gold. LOL

Must be a Canadian humor thing, kinda like frozen fish and beer jokes.

And yes, the bail bonds spot is a little interesting. It's not like we're at a Dodgers game! :)

I'm not a fan of those "femme Cap fan" spots either. Seems like really niche-y humor that doesn't do anything for me. Although it is cool Jack J has that cameo in one...

K9jeeper. your sarcasm is getting old. stick to hockey with your analysis. by the way, i do play hockey and have been for sometime.

Then I'll tell you what, you inane buffoon... The next time I make a hockey statement that you don't agree with your response should be one of discussion - NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK. Do I really need to dictate social tact to you? Bottom line is you get what you give. Respect is earned, Skippy.

Gentlemen, come on. We're all on the same team here. You're both great, passionate posters but let's keep it about Kings hockey. I'm all for debate and even passionate disagreement but it's getting personal from both ends. Let's end it here.

Here, I'll give you something else to whine about, Joey. Other than his teaching the younger defensemen, I think OD has become useless too. He's too slow and looks like he'd rather be on a hammock on the Strand than on the ice. He seems like he doesn't even try half the time. Now go ahead and attack me for that so I have another excuse to make you look like the inept egomaniac that you seem to love to portray.

I wouldn't go as far as to call OD "worthless" but he has slowed considerably. I appriciate his leadership and experience and the invaluable mentoring he has done with the 'kids' but his performance on the ice has been a bit disappointing. He seems like a half step behind at all times and has even been a healthy scratch. I used to think we'd re-sign him again next season but I'm not so sure now. No coincidence we picked up Randy Jones.

Perhaps it's semantics, but I used the word "useless" not worthless. And as I said, OD is great for mentoring the younger players but he really doesn't move out there on the ice. And I was actually shocked to see that JMFJ is a -11 right now! YIKES!

Yeah, I saw that stat on Johnson too. How the hell is he a minus-11? I mean, he's had a couple bone-headed moves but, on the whole, he's played okay (even decent). He is getting a lot of ice time, granted. I think we'll see that stat even out down the road.

K9Jeeper...hahaha..was i suppossed to laugh at that statement. if so, i forgot. you can not be serious. you honestly think Purcell is better then Richardson. On paper, i would have to agree, but on the ice, Purcell has been nonexistent. He only has 2 goals thus far. I am sorry, he should have more. considering he started the season on the 2nd line. He is now on the 3rd line and only one mistake away from being sent packing to Manchester. Granted, Richardson has not put the puck in the net either, put at least he is using his speed to generate some sort of attack. Murray has even used him in multiple situations thus far. Purcell has not. that is unless you consider the demotion a positive. until he starts putting the puck in the net more as he did in manchester, i will continue to disagree with you. i think we should trade him along with Fro. heck, send them both to the Islanders. he might make a good linemate for Moulson who is now playing well with Tavares.

Wow, Joe. You "forgot to laugh?" Wasn't that saying tired in like the 4th grade? You should be laughing at the fact that public and/or private schools failed you. It's better THAN - not better then. And secondly, I meant every word about Richardson. Watch the guy play tonight. Other than the incessant missed opportunities to actually put one in the net, all he does is skate around looking for something to do. If I was the coach, I would forget BOTH Purcell and Richardson and bring up talent from our pipeline.

By the way, Joey, have you actually played the game of hockey - other than on a video gaming console or on a table that involved air or twisting rods? You see, I have played - for many years. Both ice and roller. I played, I coached and I ref'd. So your constant, "I'm always right about hockey" BS is getting old. Is the extent of your hockey knowledge collecting stuff from the guys who actually played the sport? And before you make the assertion that I never made it to the NHL... you're right - I didn't. I blocked a shot one night that shattered my ankle and pretty much ended any chances for me making it. C'est la Guerre

Guys, we're all Kings fans here and we all have different opinions. One thing's for sure, we are a passionate bunch!

K9, the expectations for Purcell were much higher than that of Richardson. Outside of a couple of games, he has been a complete disappointment. I'd get rid of him (if he has any value at this point). If Purcell isn't scoring on a somewhat consistent basis, he is useless.

Richardson, on the other hand, has been decent on the fourth line this season (though he is a minus-7). He's fast and a little bit gritty. Worth a second round pick? Not at all. Decent on the fourth line? For now, I'd say he is.

Here's the thing: if we brought someone up from Manchester to replace Purcell, who is it? Same question for Richardson. While we do have some depth and some options, we're still young our players are still developing. If there was to be a trade deadline move, I'd say it would be to generate some secondary scoring more than replacing Richardson on the fourth line.

Ovechikin bench celebration..like it!!...what we need to do with the fourth line is first send down or trade Purcell. Can the downslide be any worse. Starts the season the 2nd line and is now accumalting rookie minutes on the 4th. next, we cut loose Raitis and insert Clune. He brings more energy and excitement and he can fight. Reminds me of Avery, but minus the stupidity. Plus, he is a real cool guy to talk too. Clifford can not be called up because of junior eligibility, so scratch that option. As for Katrina, she sounds like she is very knowledgable, but selecting the ducks as her favorite team...BOOO! Last time i checked, they sit at the bottom of the league. Until they trade Jiggy, they will remain at the bottom..PERFECT! Joe the collector..OUT!

I prefer Teddy Purcell MUCH MORE than Richardson. Richardson is useless.

I kinda have to agree with Joe here. Purcell was skating with Stoll and Brown for a big chunk and couldn't get it done. He's reminding me of Kyle Calder last year. Richardson, who was never meant to be a top 6 forward, is doing his thing, he's got the speed and the awareness. Although I still think we overpaid with that 2nd round pick for him...

Blog looks great! From what I can understand. :) I like your title of "Touchdown" for the game against Atlanta, that's what it felt like. Had that been an actual American Football game the score would have been 42-0, thats the equivalent to that disaster...

Hockey in Brazil is largely unknown, but there are people who like and follow

For sure Chris, is very hard for me to find news of the Kings, more specialized sites little report about the teams least affected, being the largest part of the news about 'the teams of the moment'. I go on sites like LA Times and many news only talk of the Lakers or Dodgers.

Your work is very important because of that.

OK, so not impressed with this chick. She can't even commit to a team! She's not a real hockey fan. Moving on....

To Megums: Claws are out...it's cat fight time, kids! The thing is that she's from Toronto and that team just plain sucks. So she's looking for a real team to root for. Nuttin' wrong with that. Besides, she's Canadian so that translates to her NOT being sexually repressed like most American women are. GOOD TIMES!
