While, it’s true, that you can’t watch Overtime directly from the site, you can watch and get the latest episodes as soon as they’re up in a couple of other places.

If your cellphone has the ability to play video, you can view our latest shows on YouTube by heading over to http://www.youtube.com/KingsCast. If you subscribe, you’ll know when the latest show is available.

Also, if you’re one of the millions with an iPhone, you can view our shows on the KingsCast Facebook Fan Page using the latest Facebook app for the iPhone.

So, no, you don’t have to wait to get back to your desktop to watch the latest episode of Overtime, you can now do it from plane, train or automobile (KingsCast does not endorse watching and driving). When you think of a city that would possibly host a Hockey Fest, Los Angeles isn’t exactly the first place that comes to mind. But with a rabid core of passionate and championship starved fans, and in a season that appears to finally be heading in the right direction, the Los Angeles Kings organization decided to stage the first annual Hockey Fest 2009 in celebration of this loyalty and in hopes of marketing the youthful core and hopeful future success to the city. Taking place in the heart of the Nokia Theater, also home of the Grammys, Hockey Fest converged for opening ceremonies in front of several hundred anxious and spirited fans in what hopes to be the start of a season of full of shiny trophies and merriment of their own.

On a hot and steamy day in the Los Angeles area, Kings fans and Angelenos marched down the streets of downtown with hockey on their minds. People of all ages, many adorning Kings jerseys and t-shirts, filled the grand arena of the Nokia in what kicks off the beginning of the Hockey season.

With interactive trivia games on the jumbo-tron, a video montage of classic Kings hockey moments and the presentation of players past, present and future, this epic all weekend event commenced. ESPN Hockey writer and analyst, John Buccigross, acted as MC, mixing humor and energy into the crowd of vivacious fans. In one of the most powerful moments of the evening, captain Dustin Brown provided his insight into what feels like the most tight knit and team oriented squad he’s ever seen assembled in several years of being a member of the organization.

With high hopes of making the playoffs and bringing a well deserved Stanley Cup to Kings fans, the organization brings to Los Angeles the first annual Hockey Fest which aspires to be only the beginning of long awaited success. KingsCast will be covering the much anticipated event this year with full media access, so keep an eye out for episodes of Overtime, Podcasts, blogs, photos and interviews with players and staff. LA Kings Hockey Fest ’09 Starts Tonight

If you’re a Los Angeles Kings fan, then you know that Hockey Fest ’09 starts tonight in Downtown Los Angeles with a live acoustic performance by Eddie Kowalczyk of the band “Live”. Despite the 100 degree weather, the Kings are looking to put on quite a show this weekend.

Saturday you’ll have the opportunity to meet Dave Taylor, Marcel Dionne and Charlie Simmer of the Triple Crown Line in person. The stories this group must have as they made up one of the best lines in Los Angeles Kings history. This is my must-see event for Saturday. Also featured will be an enforcer panel and an NHL experts discussion. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of your current Kings and get some long-awaited autographs.

Sunday is the coup de grace for any Kings Fan as Bob Miller will be starring in his own one-man show at the Nokia Theatre. In this special performance, Bob will re-live many of his favorite (and funny) Kings moments. I absolutely cannot wait for this one. Also on Sunday will be a panel on “Growing Up Kings” with Jim Fox, Luc Robitaille, Bernie Nicholls and Mark Hardy where they will talk about growing up in the farm system and finally making the team. At 10AM, there will be a discussion with Terry Murray, Dean Lombardi and Ron Hextall where you’ll get the “inside scoop” on what’s happening with the team. Think of this as a condensed Breakfast with the GM.

Of course, KingsCast will be there as part of the media giving you up to the minute updates on Twitter as well as the blog. We’ll be trying to get a few interviews as well for you. Also, we’re hoping to meet some of you this weekend and get your take on this year’s squad on video for Overtime. Thanks for all of the support this off-season!

I’m not going to lie, it’s tough to find true female hockey fans out there. Even rarer is a female Los Angeles Kings fan. But, if you’ve been listening to the last few episodes of KingsCast, you’ve probably heard the lovely voice of our new co-host, Connie Kim. Connie’s been providing excellent and funny commentary at her blog,A Queen Among Kings for a while. However, today we are happy to announce that Connie has joined KingsCast as a co-host and blogger.

While adding the female perspective to our show is a very good thing, don’t be mistaken: Connie knows her hockey. We look forward to reading about her unique perspective on the LA Kings for a very long time as well as listening to her on the show once we go back into production. Don’t hold it against her but Connie is a huge Rob Blake fan. I guess we can agree to disagree.
