Episode 49 – To the Gallows

Nice episode guys. One criticism…Chris, your Doughty imitation is terrible. You didn't say “Ya know” nearly enough….needed at least 8 more hits on that. And I agree with you guys that Ersberg is probably gone after this year, but I think maybe he knew that when he signed a 2-way deal on his last contract. I hope the Kings find a place to trade him that will actually PLAY him, because I think he's a solid goaltender, even if he'll ever be a bona fide #1.

Bottom line….Berns will stay in Manchester until they're done with the Calder Cup. If the Kings are still playing hockey after that, I expect DL to use one of the call-ups he has left to bring him back. It's gonna be exciting to watch.

I say that Ersberg should have another injury. How about a hang nail this time? End result: we call up Bernier and go far into the playoffs.

I remember listening to that game where Roenick scored twice. It was against Dallas and I thought, for sure, that we were gonna make the playoffs. But it was all for naught!

Yeah, we really did miss the “You know's” but, hey, our impressions are just awful.

I agree with you on the Bernier situation. I don't think there's a panic move made if Quick falters. Quick has been stellar all season. If we lose a series, I doubt the blame will fall on him.

I think the game you're thinking of was against Phoenix in the first game of the season. It was all downhill from there. Thanks, JR!

Let me be the first to welcome Keef back to the K-Cast. Great episode, fella – even though it was a little light in the cool music department. The segment, “If I were…” is great, but I'm curious – wouldn't it be “If I was?” Two people were, one person was. As always, great show and I look forward to each new episode…seriously. I hope the Kings roast the Ducks tonight and Tuesday.

Yeah, I thought it was a road game versus the Stars that year and it was the opening game of the season, not the home opener.

Grammatically speaking, you are right, Kenny. However we just never liked “If I was”. It just doesn't sound right. Plus, we reserve the right to ignore conventional rules such as grammar and spelling on KingsCast.

After Thursday's performance I think the Kings will come out guns blazing again tonight. If they win and Calgary loses, we clinch. Now, can Detroit please stop winning? I do not want Chicago in the first round!

It was the season opener against Dallas in Dallas where Roenick scored 20% of his goals for the season. And they lost 5-4 after being up 4-0 if I recall.

The fans have spoken, we'll throw it on the “to-do” list!

About the goalies, it's hard to say anything, because Ersberg doesn't get to play two games in a row, so…My choice would be Bernier though, I guess.

Agree that was a slap in the face to Ersberg and what does that do to the moral in the dressing room? Keep Bernier in Manchester and if Quick gets hurt in the playoffs call up Bernier. Ersberg is done.

Yeah, the Oilers just missed it. So now that the Kings have clinched, you will be drinking my friend. The question is how much? It's been teetering at the 40 points differential lately so 1 more week to figure out the final numbers. Yikes! Very fitting the Kings and Oilers play on Saturday…

I better call the paramedics in advance Geez Louise the Oilers just had one of the worst years ever with play, injuries, sickness. Just a mess.

Thanks for watching, Chris! 05-06 was our first year of season tickets. I still remember in December saying to Chris something to the effect of “I'm so glad we have tickets to a contender. I don't know if I could live with not making the playoffs.”

I will be shocked to see Ersberg on the team next season. I'm sure Lombardi will trade him to a team that needs goaltending help. A Quick/Bernier tandem is the most likely solution next season.

I think a management change needs to happen in Edmonton. Sure they got Lubo off the books but they have little cap space on a marginal team. Personally, I'd love to see the Oilers return to glory one day. Drafting Hall will be a plus but they need to build the right way.

Humm, Erik Ersberg was well in the game yesterday, despite the fivehole goal in shot by Selanne. Bernier gives me more security in goal, however I would keep the 'Iceberg' as backup.

About the playoffs, will be the first time I see the Kings in the playoffs, i began to accompany the Kings in the season 07-08, so was not in the playoffs in 01-02. It will be very exciting to see xD

I thought Ersberg was outstanding in overtime. It will be very interesting to see how Jonathan Quick does in the playoffs. From what I've seen I'm not entirely optimistic.

Actually after the birth of Quick's son he didnt had good performances, I think these playoffs will serve as experience for many young players on the team, but of course, if SC comes to LA I'll like a lot hehehehe
