just wanted to add something to an old post debate...As i was watching NHL Live this morning, Bob Mckenzie of TSN, clearly stated that the Kings have the inside track to obtaining Kovie from Atlanta as it is clearly becoming more and more apparant that the Thrashers are going to have to trade their young star. The Kings are the only team in the NHL that have the money, cap space and young talent to go along with some aging veterans...Not sure if Atlanta would really part with Kovie, but i think it would be great if we can acquire him. i just hope that if this trade really does happen, we do not dismantle our team. Another reason why McKenzie feels that this transaction makes sense is because the Kings are so close to turning the corner that he feels a trade for Kovie would put the Kings over the top..That is of course, if Deano can resign him.
  • LOL, you guys aren't big Purcell fans. He will drive you to drink! I would stand pat for now on the trade. Some good chemistry in LA right now.
  • The best part of my day was seeing Keith tweet about meeting Ovechkin and how he's a complete dick... LOL Tell us more about it, Keef!

We won!! at last... bravo goes to Fro and Quick, they did great job today. I think that first lineup with Brown showed some potential for playing together...

I also agree with Kieth's lineups. Only that I would move 3rd attack up to 2nd...

Almost forgot, HAPPY AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR to all of you out there!
  • Happy New Year to you as well! Thanks so much for your support!

Hey there, i just couldn't agree more with you two about Purcell playing with Smyth and Kopitar. It was a surprise when I saw him there watching the game live at 5 am that morning, here in Slovenija. Sorry but I think Quick wasn't on the level against Minnesotta, like Kieth said. he got 4 goals out of 23 shots so... But he's young and was great for most of the games this year.

QOD Trade: Purcell for draft pick (lol)
  • I don't get Murray putting Purcell with Kopitar and Smyth AGAIN last night against the Flames. He's just so easily off the puck. I really think that this team lost some heart when Williams went down that brutally.

Purcell for a pick? I only think that happens if we make another trade. Bottom line, we still need a good, healthy, top-six roster player. That needs to happen via trade considering our depth is either up with the Kings or injured in Manchester.
  • Oh and one more thing, since I was a huge fan of the TV show, "Home Improvement" I say you guys should do a "Tool Time" spin off but with a hockey theme. Chris wearing plaid and some overalls and Keith playing the wise-ass Tim Taylor kind of guy. Good times!
  • Great idea! I see an equipment room or skate sharpening room as a set, with a bunch of "man cave" type coolness. Thanks for donating the 52" flat screen!
  • Enjoy the 52" - did you like the pink bow I put on it? Like you two, I live to serve the needs of the people. You might say that I'm at your cervix.

    HAPPY YEW NEAR!!!!!
  • Don't forget a Pamela Anderson look-alike in the background. No, you cannot forget that!!
  • Very nice job fellas! The voice and music audio levels are pretty even - thank you. As for who I'd trade - package Purcell, Frolov, Ivanans and OD and trade them for a Shetland pony for Bailey to ride around on. The Ice Crew should have a lot of fun picking up after the pony. (evil laughter)

not really sure at this time who to trade for, but we are all quite aware that a spark is needed. we do not want to take ourselves out of playoff contention. now would be a perfect time to unload both frolov and purcell. we should trade them both to atlanta or to chicago. atlanta because of the russian connection (Kovie) and chicago because of cap issues. sending fro to atlanta may convince kovie to resign..not sure who i would want in return, but we need someone with Justin's skill and goal scoring prowness..the teams record after their current 2 game road trip will dictate if Deano will do anyhting. it should be interested....
  • Yeah, the Kovalchuk thing would be awesome... but it would be awesome for 28 other teams besides the Kings. He would take WAY, WAY more than Frolov and Purcell...

The Chicago thing is intriguing. With the way their playing, I'm not sure they'd want to make any trades... but for the sake of conversation, lets go with it! :) It sounds like they will have to dump two of the Sharp, Versteeg, Byuffuycvxasdfsn trifecta. Everyone knows that they're going to have to dump the salaries-- so who knows if they'd be interested in maximizing their trade value now. Sharp would be so perfect for the Kings, its not even funny.

Whoever they trade for, I hope they are focused on getting a REAL top line winger and not some plug that would be playing out of position. If they want someone to do that, there are plenty of guys on the roster (and in Manchester) that can do that.
  • I agree, Joe, that there is no way we're trading for Kovie at this point. But you do bring up an interesting idea that Atlanta is still a trading partner. What about Colby Armstrong? I know he isn't having the best of seasons but he is a good, strong, young player. What about moving Brown up to the top line. Then you get something like this:

    Smyth-Kopitar-Brown
    Frolov-Stoll-Armstrong
    Parse-Handzus-Simmonds
    Ivanans-Richardson-Segal
  • I like it Keith, I like Colby Armstrong, he's like a Dustin Brown. Will it actually happen? No. As desperate as everything feels right now, I see Dean Lombardi holding and seeing how the games play out. His mind is spinning rapidly as we speak though. As for Teddy P, it's such a frustrating situation that I don't know what you can do besides swap him out with a kid in Manchester, that might provide a spark...
  • Teddy Purcell would be subject to waivers and someone would pick him up. As much as I'm okay with that, management wouldn't be. They need to figure something else out.
