9 Oct, 2009 | by Keith

The penalty kill might need work but these Los Angeles Kings have found a way to score in bunches. In this episode we walk you through the game against the Wild and talk about where the Kings need to improve.

    Dallas Practice called off!
  • At this point it's better to rest the team than make them practice and feel worse.

Just was looking forward to it....I wanted the pictures and vid....I took the day off work and everything, Oh well I understand.
  • You know, Chris, since the Kings have been on the road for so long we have no in-game footage for the show we're shooting tomorrow. We were hoping to use your practice footage! We were even thinking about crediting you as our "Special Dallas Correspondant". :-) Oh well, we'll make every attempt to keep it interesting regardless! I hope the next Kings practice in Dallas isn't canceled!

Hahha, Sorry man. It might be to late tomorrow night when I get home at about ummm 9:30 your time. I will send what I can, Problem is sneaking in the flip cam. Then not getting caught. This is so great to watch this team play, it feels like Christmas....I am a big fan of the show, wish I would have met up in Vegas with ya....Next year. Keep up the kick ass show I look forward to it each week. I will be at the Kings at Dallas game on the 19th. I will take lots of phots at practice the day before and sneak in the flip cam into the game, you are welcome to any of the photos/video. Later!
  • Chris, we'll gladly post any photos to the gallery. If you catch any good footage on the Flip, let me know. I'm sure there's some sort of creative way we can work that into an episode!
  • ChrisBond
I will email it to you when I get it, Dont feel like you have to try to use it and the photos but you are more then welcome to use whatever ya like. Anything I can do to help out my favorite Kings webcasters do there show. I just want them to win because it is a long long walk to the train station across the AA center parking lot with Stars fans talking s#&t to you the whole way. We take the train so we can drink all the beer we want and dont have to drive back to Fort Worth.

I have the old 3rd color too and they always give me the same crap! I would've never thought of that green color comment! Pure genius! I was going to ditch work for the game Monday but I am going to a wake instead (stuff happens). Be loud!
  • Chris Mora
Chris - I too live in the DFW area and take the TRE to the games. I feel your pain on those long walks, but I especially hate the non stop heckling from the drunks on the ride back!

Well they talk crap from a far call me Burger King, Barney when I were my purple older 3rd jersey. (funny really) But then they get closer and shut up real fast when they see me and my friends I am 6'-4" and about 275+ friends are about the same. So if you see me on the train or at the game in my crown come say hi. We are 4 rows off the ice in the corner Kings shoot at 1st and 3rd. This will be the first time I take the train to avoid the drunk drive home. But have had my share of parking lot fun in the last year. One game last year a girl yelled that "Purple is the gay color or Fort Worth" I dont know why because we were in Dallas but whatever. Now I was going to be quite and just take it after a Kings win. But with a lot of beer in me I replyed to this really "BIG" girl in the older Dallas jersey. That Green is the "Fat girl color of Southern California" all the sudden everyone was pissed at me. It was funny now but at the time in the hall leaveing the arena it was ummmm tense. I just hope we win, Flu and all!
  • "Green is the fat girl color of Southern California"!? Wow, that is hilarious! I'm sure that shut her up real quick. I guess fans are obnoxious all over. And I thought Staples was bad!

Keith, I am not that kind of guy to say stuff like that but after a whole game of a whole section talking crap....I had enough. There is a huge difference between fun crap talking and down right talking sh*t....I can take a good ribbing, but when you say stuff to my wife and me well....
I have gone to a lot of hockey all over the place and it is by far the worst here. I use to talk crap to Wings/Ducks/Ect. Fans but not like they do in Dallas. I kept it fun, I have had people throw stuff at me ect. Mind you I am loud, dress the part were a crown to every game.
I really almost got into a fight that night. Its was sad and I was drunk not a good excuse but...well what can I say.
  • Hey, you know what? If they dish it out, they need to be prepared to take it. I like trash-talking too but, you're right, when it comes to throwing things or involving the wife, all bets are off. Then again I'm 6'3, 185 and am more of a lover than a fighter :-)

I love that you're representing the Kings well when they're in town!
  • 6'-3" and 185? Dude, go eat a sandwich! Seriously.
  • Sounds like the Kings fans at Staples Center taking the train back home. There is something about taking mass transpo after an event...
  • thomasvokoun
Awesome overtime guys! and btw, i didn't understand the logic of that Minnesota fan. She loves the wild, yet she says go kings? I guess that's the liquor talking then!
  • LOL! The bleeping has deceived you. It was actually "F-*$ the Kings"!

the McMuffin minute? is that the new campaign for scoring within the 2nd period. How lame....I agree, we need to do something about the 2nd line. Brownie does not look like himself at the moment. I wonder if the minor injury he suffered is taking a toll or there is something else the kings are not telling us. Although, i think we need to wait it out for awhile and then reevaluate things after the road trip. changing things too quickly can have some consequences. Kings talk suggested we wait until after the road trip before moving forward with things since the season just started and i agree.

  • Yeah, Joe, I think we'll have a pretty good idea who the Kings are at the conclusion of the road trip. If we go .500 (or, dare we dream, better) I think we'll be in shape with nothing major. If we really falter, I can see Murray blowing up the line combos. However, right now, patience is a virtue.
  • I still say the Kings should bring up Schenn and Loktionov.

Oh and where do you tape "Overtime?" All that chatter in the background was a distraction. Just sayin'.
  • I would be in favor of bringing up Loktionov if he continues to dominate in the AHL. Lombardi won't call him up unless he does just that. That said, I think he and Brown would be great together. Throw Frolov on the left and move Purcell to the 3rd line and you might have a scary top 3.

I'm not in favor of bringing in Schenn though. Where does he play? Handzus is perfect on the third line. Stoll, while not a 2nd line center, surely isn't a fourth. And a 5th overall pick like Schenn shouldn't be centering the fourth line (paraphrasing Lombardi there). I think it's best to keep Brayden down.

We shoot OT on the 23rd floor of my apartment building in LA. You're right, that little shindig some of the residents were having probably wasn't location for us to shoot. We have a fix for that next episode (should that happen again).
  • LOL..."Mark Crawford style"

That 2nd line question is a tough one. Not sure there is much there to switch. I would keep it for now since the team is winning, Make a change when things start to struggle? Frolov maybe?
  • That's exactly why I think Terry Murray will be patient. I, for one, love the third line. That said, Alexander Frolov is not a third line player. If you see a scoring drought, look for Fro to move up. However, I doubt Murray would ever break up Handzus and Simmonds. Those guys have great chemistry.
